My engine in my 2003 2.5l v6- xtype AWD has blown up, i found a 2003 s- type 3.0l engine 2WD with no wiring harness for a kickin deal.he said ( as the post online clearly states) that it has been converted to fit a x- type.. does that sound legit. I need to get this done tomorrow , and i wouls hate to spend time and money i dont have on a decently priced engine. If anyone could alert me to whether or not this conversion will be worth it, and if so, what are the differences o shpuld prepare for in parts,mounting ect.

 

My initial reaction is that it isn't an installation that's going to be plug and play. The S-type is an inline engine and the X-type is a transverse. More than likely the block configuration is probably the same but there are some difference that make it difficult.
The x-type water pump drive is from the camshaft on the forward bank of the engine. Unless the camshaft has been changed along with the cover ETC, You would have a lot of work fitting the engine.
With the old 2.5 you would already have the components but the install and adaption would not be for the novice mechanic with a deadline. The conversion will take a lot of time and effort to get everything mated up.
Unless this engine has been pulled out of an x-type after the stated conversion it would be an adventure to install.
