Default Aircon blowing hot after removing satnav

Hi guys. I've "downgraded" from the touchscreen satnav unit to the digital aircon controls, so that I can fit a double-din unit.

I unplugged the two cables from the remote climate control module (RCCM) and plugged them into the standard aircon controls. The control panel lights up and all the controls seem to respond (fan, temp select, vent select etc) BUT the aircon only blows HOT. And I don't mean warm, I mean full force of the engine bay hot; far higher than ambient temp, regardless of what temperature I select on the panel.

Any ideas? The aircon worked fine before this swap, and there are only two plugs involved so I can't see how I've gone wrong...
