Default Clutch goes to floor wont shift or start.

I have a 2004 X-type 2.5 I was driving the other day and my clutch went to floor and wouldnt shift. I had it towed home but I dont know how to diagnose it. I just had a new clutch installed less than a year ago. I heard it is probably the master or slave cylinder. How can I tell what the problem is or which one needs replaced?

I'd first try to find which component was leaking. Was either replaced along with the clutch job a year ago? If not, I'd be inclined to replacing both cylinders; I wouldn't want to replace just one, then have the other one fail shortly thereafter because it becomes worn out as well. Then you have to repair same system and re-bleed both cylinders. Part number for master cylinder is C2S41449 ($147 @ SNG Barratt), slave C2S46903 ($186 @ SNG Barratt). Rock Auto has multiple pricing options for both parts, and you can query eBay and other vendors for their offerings. Post outcome on this thread, OK?

I agree it's probably best to replace both master and slave at the same time - they are not too expensive and will work out a lot cheaper in the long run than paying for two separate jobs

Thank you guys. They are replaced now. Where is the clutch bleeder valve located?
