Confused about P1314 misfire code
Have a 2002 3.0 X-Type 120k mi. that is misfiring. I'm getting the P1314 code but that doesn't help me identify which cyl. is the culprit. Can anyone tell me what would cause such a code? Changed all the plugs and fuel filter but no change in performance. It seems to happen under load. If I baby it and take it easy, I am able to drive without any problems.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Could be the wires, then. I realize that it's difficult to justify a "fix" that specifies you continue to replace working parts until the one that's not working gets replaced. Can get expensive. But, at 120k miles, it's a little easier to justify, I suppose, and it seems the logical next step.
Sorry. That's not much help, is it?

PDowning, well, the code atleast tells me that the code is associated with bank 2 which is the cylinders nearest the radiator (easier ones to get to). You can try swapping the banks of coils around (ie, bank 2 to bank 1 and bank 1's to bank 2) and see if the problem moves. Not the easiest of things to do, but saves on having to buy parts "just because". Then if the problem moves, you know it is a coil. You can then either move them 1 at a time or move the coils back and then buy 1 good one and move it through the cylinders on bank 2 till the problem goes away. Lots of removal and installing, but short of putting the car on a higher end engine monitor, that is about as good as you are going to get.

Same code issues
When I start my car in the morning the service engine light blinks and the car runs very rough at first...after the car warms up the problem stops and the light stays on...so I took my x-type to the dealer and they replaced the coils and plugs. Driving home tonight the service engine light comes back on I just paid $890.00 to fix this, any ideas?

cincy, a blinking check engine light is severe misfiring enough to cause damage. Then goes solid to store code and when the severity lessens or stops. Remember that a check engine light can come on for hundreds of things. It may still need further work in the misifire area. or could be a different code. like one now for catalyst efficiency below threshold(need a cat) since midifring will quickly damage catalytic converters. Especially bad enough to get and flashing check engine light
P1314 I dont remember off the top of my head, but I have a 03 X in 1 of my stalls with
P0300-306, and p1313, p1314, p1316 so when I get in in the morning Ill be looking those up and diagnosing

I am having the same problem. Also I just had the transmission go out and had to have it rebuilt. The company that rebuilt my transmission is telling me the drive train light (Red light with a question mark in it) is coming on not because I still have a transmission problem but it is coming on because the engine is misfiring. Does this make sense? It only shows up on the highway not driving thrue town? When the traansmission starting going out it would slip and the light would come on but the misfiring has been going on for a long time. Any help would be great

When the issue first started it was just a light being on (Some say its the O2). Then when the weather started to get really cold the starting issue was reall bad..the car almost didnt start it was so bad. This morning after coils and plugs have been changed the issue was no where near as serious but you can tell something was still wrong. Also my gas milage seems to be worse...I've called Jag, now waiting on a reply back..
