Engine Malfunction Light

Engine Malfunction Light
Esteemed Colleagues...
I just bought my 2003 X-Type (for 950 bucks!!!). I had a new transmission put in it (thats why it was 950 bucks!!!!). I have an illuminated engine malfunction light that when I took it to my mechanic and had him read the codes... it came up referencing the battery (I didn't get the actually code number but I will Saturday). He reset the code (light extinguished) and after a day the light came back on when I was passing 50mph.
I haven't changed the battery yet but that is what the mech recommended. I vaguely remembering a mention somewhere in the forum discussions that there is a secondary battery somewhere in the car...
Can anyone provide a little insight or guidance to a newbie Cat owner???
I would appreciate any help - Mike

Michael, there is no second battery. Remove the battery there in the engine bay and put in a new 94R battery. Once the new battery is in, you will need to reset your windows. BUt this is easy. Start with the window all the way up. Press and hold down the button to lower the window completely. As the window reaches full down, keep pressing the button (do not lift up) for an additional 3-5 seconds (should hear a click). Release the button. Now, lift up on the button to close the window. Again, once the window stops, keep holding the button for an additional 3-5 seconds (till you hear a click). Repeat for the other 3 windows. They are no reset.
Give us the codes and we can help you from there.

The code has to do with the cat performance. Below is from JTIS for code 430.
Check fuses 38 and 42 in the engine compartment fuse box and make sure power is going to the O2 sensors. I believe bank 2 is the bank closest to the windshield and would be fuse 42.
You need to have the O2 sensors checked with a code reading while running if the fuse is giving power to the sensor.
