Fault P1647, Upstream bank 2 O2 sensor change With Pics 2.5 V6
After being pointed in the right direction (Thanks GGG) having read my codes.I bought the O2 sensor from my local motor factors today then attempted the change over from old to new.
This is the sensor I purchased for the sum of 88 English pounds (ouch).
First off I totally removed my air-box (7mm and 8mm socket drive and Philips screwdriver).
This is the position of the offending sensor under the radiator pipe which runs under the airbox
You can Just see the blue and white wire which runs into the top of the sensor. The cat is surrounded by a heat shield which makes the job more difficult.
After the sensor was unplugged (from underneath the car for easy access)
I removed the pice of radiator pipe blocking access to the sensor by removing the two clips one from each end. With the pipe removed. I then removed the 3 bolts holding the heat shield in place. (Two from the top of the car and one from underneath). This still made it hard to access the sensor so I just cut the heat shield with some tin snips from the top to the sensor hole. This made life a lot easier to remove the old sensor using a 22mm open ended spanner. I soaked it with WD40 to help free it up. once cracked it came out with ease.
Note: There is a little metal bracket that holds the wire running along the front of the engine remove this to give better access for your spanner. its held on with two 7mm nuts. The wire which clips onto this bracket just un-clips.
Once the new sensor was screwed back in (40 - 45NM) nip up don't over tighten. (I used some copper grease on the thread, recommended).
Rebuild everything, retracing your steps in reverse order. The heat shield went back ok without any issues.
I then plugged in the new sensor secured the wires, refilled the coolant reservoir then turned on.......reset codes and hey presto the Jobs done....Yipeeee.

LOL Yeah your right I phoned around all of the local factors this morning. The best they could do was Monday 12 noon. As I'm off to the west coast of Scotland early Monday morning I really needed to do the fix today! So after some searching on the interweb I checked out euro car parts. They had one left so I reserved it then belted down to get it from Team Valley.
The rests history.
Thanks for the heads up yesterday concerning the code

Check out https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...pe-2-5l-88573/
It's got roughly the same pics showing the O2 sensor location.
