Default Atlanta Area Mechanics?

Does anyone know of any Atlanta area repair shops that work on Jaguars that will allow you to buy your own parts and just pay them for the labor? I can find parts a whole lot cheaper than what the dealeror Firestonewants to charge.

Any service department should allow you to do that. I don't see it being a problem in you getting the parts and the mechanic installing it. He's getting paid either way.....and if he doesn't want your business....their are 134,567,856.5 other shops in your area.

Most shops I've ever dealt with will only warranty a job if they provide the parts.
And if you think about it, when you remove from the shop the ability to mark-up the part, they're either going to increase the labor-rate, or they're going to lose money doing the work.

Are you really saving that much but buying parts elsewhere?

This is sort of a pet-peeve of mine. If you (and everyone else) continue to buy your parts on-line, then how long will it be before the local parts dept or parts warehouses are gone altogether? When was the last time you saw a true 'speed-shop' while driving around? They're not like they used to be.
The brick and mortar places have a definite purpose. I need them a LOT more than I need the internet based retailers. But when I choose to turn my back on the locally owned companies... how can I bitch when they're belly-up and the economy in my area sucks?

Agreed.

If its goin to the dealer then they usually supply any parts for fitting and offer warranty of same in my experience.
Unless you're taking it to an independant and even then they're gonna wanna make a little on the parts to help cover osts / overheads etc.
Only if you're doin the job as a DIYer I'd say buy the parts seperately.

Just my $0.2c worth

Craigslist is your friend. I've had all types of small jobs done, and bought all my own parts. I pay for labor, buy them a 12pk, and my car is usually ready the same day.
