Bought my '04 last May (1-owner car) with 34k on it. Now at 49k with no problems. I have changed the T/C fluid and read diff. fluid however. Have also had a flat tire - rear driver side.

2004 X 3.0 almost 42.000. Two 200 mile road trips within a week and I love this car more everyday. I'll be replacing brake pads next week and that will be the most I've spent on it.

2004 3.0 purchased August of '08 with 42,000. Now has 47,000. I have all the service records from the previous owner. Aside from normal maintenance the drive shaft was replaced at about 10,000 miles. Since I have owned it my extended warranty replaced the oil pan gasket and then I had to pay for a speed sensor that went bad. I still think i have a small oil leak from somewhere but i still love the car.

2002 X-type Sport 2.5 Auto with 68k on it. Bought it 3 years ago when it had 43,000. Still runs great especially after I put the new Kumho ASX's on it. Despite very minor issues I would never part with it till it finally croaks. It just has a really quarky personality I love unlike any other car I have driven.

It's funny how we talk about Jaguar being unreliable especially the X-Types. JD Power just ranked Jaguar and Buick as number 1 in reliability knocking off Lexus for the first time in years. Who would have a thought that a car from the UK and one from the US would knock off Lexus. Nice for a change.... Maybe need to look at that new Buick LaCrosse, naaaaah. The XF instead, that's more like it.

Ray, great screen name

The JD Power news was great to see. The interesting thing is that it's based on 3 years of ownership, so the rankings likely reflect cars that were in the 2004 or 2005 vintage. That seems consistent with what I've read about Jaguar's quality control having improved really substantially by 2004. I think the factory won a quality award in 2004.

Thanks Matt....

You're right and it's nice to see the progression. Let's hope Tata keeps the standards going. But it does give you some sense of pride.
