If you try the citric acid cleaning method:

1) do it off the car
2) heat the solution to 80 degrees C and keep the temperature there.
3) agitate occasionally

Curious, did the Jaguar dealership tell you, if anything else was wrong with car? I heard and thought there were some other posts stating CATs just don't go bad there's a reason behind the failure. Therefore, the root problem should be fixed first, otherwise the new CAT could fall prey to the same problem. Just a thought.

Anyone have any luck removing the rear/passenger cat without dropping the subframe? Some details would be appreciated.

Birdman,
I have replaced 2 of those cats. Easiest that I found was to take it out through the pass side wheel well. you do have to drop the sub frame and remove the rack bolts giving you room to pull out the cat. I also removed the intake for ease of removing the bolts on the header.

Good luck,
The Dr!

Rock Auto $174 to $197 dollars. I have never had an issue with one single part I have bought and used from them. I just bought a COP and it was flawless and 28 bucks shipped.

Auto parts warehouse.com
Got front cat for about $175.
Rear I think is about $300.
Changed front cat on ramps in an hour, rear cat will require a lift I've been told.
