Mirror Wiring - Donnelly 011530
Hey guys,
So i have my 2002 Jaguar X-Type with an electrochromic mirror, a while ago the mount somehow broke, so we had the mirror held up by the wires (Obviously a bad idea). So eventually the wires fell out of the harness, and now i have 5 loose wires hanging down.
I have searched everywhere to try and find out the order of the wires, but cannot find it anywhere. Could you please either post a picture of the back of your 5 pin electrochromic mirror (You'll see 5 wires) or tell me the colors from left to right- so i can re-wire mine? This mirror also controls auto lights etc..
Thank you SO much in advance - Nik

You have done me a HUGE favor! I really appreciate it!
So looking down from the top, going left to right it looks like its
Green/Black, Orange/ Black, White/ Black, Gray, Red/Black ?
I hooked it up and my auto lights did not turn on as planned, and it did not dim , so either i got the wrong order, or a bad replacement mirror. Im going to try and hook up my old mirror to it with this order that you have posted and see if the features work as planned, as you can see in my original picture the mounting ring is busted, so i cant just use the old one
Thanks again for your help though, I really appreciate you taking the time out of your day to help me!

and Maximum, i have been trying to find this forever, i got a whole PDF file for the cars electrical systems design, but it doesn't label anything by color. I looked everywhere and couldnt find ANYTHING, it got to the point where i was trying to find another X'type so i could look through their windows to see what colors go where haha. Jaguar would charge a good $1-300 for this service here in maine

Nik, I am making a few assumptions here, so, give this a try. use the pictures as a reference. But, from what I can tell, the wires should go in this order from Pin 1 to Pin 5:
Black/red, gray, green/black, orange/black, and white black. I know this doesn't quite match up to what the pictures show, but I am also looking at the diagrams and matching up what they have to what you have. It isn't an exact match up.
I am also looking at the wiring colors and trying to use the color codes to help get the correct function. As a general rule the manufacturers follow a certain color coding, but it isn't a "must do". So, it may take a little bit of trial and error with this.
Looking at my car, it matches what I see in the pics. If you are looking at the back of the mirror, from left to right it is black/red, black (your gray, it is just faded), black/white, black/orange, and green/black. So, you have atleast 2 different options there.
All of the diagrams that I have only show the mirror having 3 wires to it. So, I am a little perplexed about this too.
Another check I would do is to make sure that your gray wire is a short to ground (use a multimeter to verify). It could be that as the mirror fell, it tugged on the wire and damaged it. Along those same lines, you can verify that you have power on the black/red wire whenever the car is in the RUN position. if you put the car in Reverse, the green/black wire should have 12 VDC on it. It is possible that when the mirror fell, the wires shorted out and you blew a fuse (F91 in the dash fuse box).
