Default My woes continue...

So I'm driving home tonight, all of a sudden I get an alternating engine systems fault/gearbox fault. The revs kick up to about 1,500 and the car goes into what I assume is the notorious limp mode, unable to go over 5mph. So I pull over (thankful that I was already in the far right lane) and noticed that when I moved the shifter up to park, the gear changes were fairly violent and it even acted like it went into gear in neutral. I let the car sit for about 30 minutes and was able to drive the remaining 2 miles home with no issues and my fingers tightly crossed. I'm beginning to think I definitely got boned on this deal. So what are my options? I read one thread stating similar issues and cleaning the throttle body seemed to resolve it, another thread eluded to the possibility of water in the gearbox and corroding/shorting out sensor wires...

I have been getting a knock sensor high output fault and a pedal throttle sensor fault, both of which I had planned to take care of this coming weekend, but now it seems I've bigger problems.

There's a Jaguar specialist near where I work, so I may just take it in on my lunch. It's almost as if the car knew I was getting paid this week and wants my hard earned cash.

Very first step: Have the battery load-tested. Anything under about 90%, replace it.

Yes, a weak battery can cause ALL types of "sensor" issues.

It's a brand new battery. Thanks for the reply though. I bought a new one with the hope of ruling out some of the other minor issues I'm having.

Attached is the code readout for P0480. I would agree about battery, make sure you have the proper size since you state it is new. I believe it has to be a group 95. Even a new battery if not right size will cause gremlins.
For your latest you can see it is for the coolant sensor.

Just a stab in the dark..But mine when I had it, did this one time, much like you described, and it turned out to be the "O-rings" around the Intake manifold valves (IMT I think they're called)....There is a lot of threads/posts on the subject here....

Again, may not be the problem but something to look into for starters.

It is the correct size. I've only had the car for just over 2 weeks and the previous owner had a battery in it that was too small.

I would question how many miles on the cat? By chance did the PO give you any history on the car?

If you have an Advance Auto near by they will let you use a code reader so you can check her out.

Trying to help but need some a little more info if you can.

170,000+ miles. I had to replace the right front wheel bearing, half shaft bearing, and ABS sensor (which has not fixed my abs light issue), which I knew about going into the purchase beforehand and was willing to deal with. Other than that, it only seemed like minor cosmetic stuff with which to worry about. When they did the work on the bearing, they ran the codes, and that's when I discovered all the other potential issues. I'm kicking myself for not taking it to a shop prior to purchasing the car to have it checked out, but you live and learn I guess. I have a cheap OBD scanner, but it's not giving me all the codes that originally popped up, although hopefully it may partially be due to now having the correct battery. Regardless, I plan on taking it on my lunch to a Jag specialist around the corner and see what they might say. I'll update later.
