Default One win, One loss!

I ws planning to do a trans flush, change the brake hoses (I have a set of nice shiny new Goodridge stainless), and flush the brake fluid...but as luck would have it, my faithful old Mity-Vac finally gave up the ghost.


Went out and bought another...good thing I checked it out before I started! It was damaged in the package.


So, a loss for the moment.


However...


I've had some bubbling paint on the driver's side quarterpanel, right where the bumper cover meets the wheelwell...I've been putting off looking at it, terrified what kind of mess I was going to find under there.


The paint started peeling yesterday, so I figured it was time to do a teardown and see how bad it is.


Surface rust. Not a speck on the backside, nothing under any trim.


I'm going to use my little media blaster to clean it, hit it with a rust converter, a tiny smear of mud and putty, prime it, and touch it up with the airbrush. Not sure if I can clearcoat just the spot, or I'd be better off to shoot the whole quarter, but score one for the good guys!

I think you can clearcoat it with an airbrush. Used to be the paint had to still be sticky for it to stick to the paint. The new clearcoats will stick to a clean dry surface no problem

The whole car could use a respray, but it really isn't worth it!

You can clear coat a spot. You should wet sand the spot and some of the clear coat around the spot to blend it in.

I am a big fan of the two part primers for sealing rust spots. They work better then anything else I have tried.
