Painting my new Mina Grille

Painting my new Mina Grille
So as a birthday present I got a new grille! Purchased from mina it is unpainted but primed and ready. My plan is taking a trip to a paint store to buy paint code JJF in 3 cans to spray myself. I say 3 cans because my bumper is missing so much paint I figured why not? I am posting this as a project thread and also asking for tips and tricks when painting with cans. I plan on sanding my bumper from 300 grit to 600 grit then priming with sandable primer in the needed locations then doing 3 or 4 coats of color. Post any comments or tips for me because this is only my second painting project and I want it to turn out nice!

Looking Good,
dont forget the clear that will really make it pop.
also the dimples on the top for the mounting holes are not quite in the right place. I suggest slotting them so you can adjust front to back had to move mine forward about 1/4 inch.
I also glued (marine grade waterproof epoxy) some led strip to the inside top of the Grill (got the idea from a member on here can`t remember who to give them credit) and wired it to the front side marker light running the wire under the heat shield and cable tied to the washer hose.
EDIT. found the link.

Dusty, when shooting the paint, do not be afraid to apply a coat of color then take a little bit of sanding paper to the paint to even out any mistakes that you make. Kinda like you can get a can of clear and give the paint a good sanding to make it really smooth and then shoot it with a coat of clear. That will take away all the sanding marks and leave you with a really nice paint job. The trick is not using too coarse of sand paper. 600 grit should be fine, but most paint shops use 1200 grit or finer.

Done with color
Thanks everyone for the advise on painting. I have the grille done and installed on the car. The holes did match up for fitting it on which was nice. I finished my 4 coats of paint on the bumper and thinking of shooting it with 2 coats of clear in the morning. I took the plate off and mounted it behind the lower grille so its still visible. I'm willing to take the risk for the better look without the plate in the middle. Plan on being done with this tomorrow afternoon. I will take pictures so you can see the results.
