Question Question regarding driveshaft howl/vibration

Hi everybody!
Just bought a 2005 Jaguar X-Type Awd ,after replacing the tires and brakes and getting a alignment I found I have the dreaded drive shaft howl at high speeds and have taken it to Jaguar for confirmation,my question is do I need to fix it if I can live with the noise? What happens if I don't? I bought the car with 79,000 on it, it's a nice car and I love it but it's my winter beater..lol

Welcome to the forum James007,

I've moved your question from USA Mid West Region to X-Type forum. This is the place to post tech questions about your model.

It will get worse as the weather gets colder. Then ease up in the spring.
Some folks grease them with needle adapter.

You can buy the bearing for about $100 bucks and a reman driveshaft for about $500. Nothing crazy so those are your worst case scenario's. I am about to replace my center bearing just because of the annoying hum. Good luck!

@ 04sport...can the carrier bearing (hanger bearing, center bearing) be replaced? I read where it couldn't be?
