Hi I have a jaguar X-Type 2.5 auto I went out yesterday and the touch screen isn't working so can't use sat nav or anything can anyone help could it b the heat ?

since your in the first phase of trouble shooting
disconnect battery for ten minnute
then let us no ,then we will go with the second phase

 

We have done that the air con works and heater but can't turn off the screen doesn't do anything

 

phase 2
go to the trunk look for the dvd rom player unplug optics and connectors only on the driver , then turn your car on for 5min, without them plugged in ,shut car off
then plug them in start up car and see what happens

you may have done some of the phases,just follow the steps and we can diagnose each phase

 

hi done phase 2 still not worked we now have no radio as disconnected battery and cannot put code in on touch screen phase 3?

 

on your deck press the seek button and one of the other buttons marked i cant remember which one but its one of then in the pic

next phase will be software and driver

 

done this does not work by touching still

 

before we go to phase 3 what trouble shooting have you done before you wrote this thread,i no these phases sond corney but this is common problem and diagnosing can be expensive so let get the minor things out of the way

 

i checked the fuses stated in the manual that work with the unit. disconected the battery. disconected it at the back of the screen unit itself, and pluged them alll back in the right order.

Hi all. I had the same issue but this was my own fault. I was playing around with the hidden menu and pressed the s/w update menu and got the message can't update from disc and then nothing. I switched ign off and on and now have blank screen and demister on full. I tried getting into the hidden menu again but can't even access that. I can get into the screen menu by holdin temp up, menu and phone I think and that lets me see that the touch screen is all working so I hope its a software issue. I have tried the upload.kwi file but nothing works so I have ordered the latest maps and firmware update to see if this helps. Fingers crossed.

 

alot of times if you find a dvd rom on ebay it will have the disc in and fix the problem but sometimes the rom you buy has the black screen to,if you get the right loading file then your map disc 80% the time it will work

now ive repaired a few roms and got them working




now if i had no knowledge on files and software and gadgets
i would take my chances with a dvd rom reader on ebay

 

I am hoping it is just the software as when I put my original Jag 2003 disc in the dvd drive it runs and stays running all the time the ignition is on so I am hoping the latest disc with firmware update will sort it out cause if not then am screwed. Can you tell me why the touch screen and all the heater controls gets its software via the sat nav I would have thought it was controlled from the ECU somehow. What is the procedure for updating it in case I am possibly not following the correct procedure. Everything worked perfectly until I stupidly pressed the update button and now nothing works

remember you need the loading kwi disk not the map disc

 

Thanks. Just got the update disc and put it into my laptop to check what was on it and the upload.kwi is there dated 2008 so ok so far. I inserted disc into car and turned ign off left 20 seconds and turned it on again. The disc is spinning ok and was spinning when I left but 50,51 still flashing. Went and made myself an extra strong coffee and now sitting patiently. Frightened to go back in case it is still the same. Not sure how long it takes.

RESULT !! All sorted. Back to working as normal and a semi up to date map. Not sure if they stopped updating this satnav after a certain date but anyway all working now.

Spill !! How did you manage to do all this. I was wondering how to get the tv part to work. My sat nav post codes doesn't work either. I am also unsure how to get the phone part of it working. Been in the 1971 menu and can see how to enable them but not sure of much else.
