Default Foam plastic bitunder intake manifold

Thankyou for the picts ! I noticed you dont have some strange piece plastic covered foam under manifold like mine. I just got this car and this makes no sense to me. it would seem to facilitate a great deal of heat . Whatever i am plagued with the phantom stalling issue which from reading seems like it could only be 20 or 30 different things .... Ill start at the cheapest one...

Then I sealed it with 60 second epory glue and high temp tape. now it works well and those 2 codes are gone.

I replaced with the new brake booster vacuum hose and erased the codes and after driving about 110 miles, I went to smog & emission test and passed. people whoes getting those 2codes highly recommend check on their brake booster hose first.

Hi Dennis,

As a newcomer to Jaguar, Code Reading & this site, I’m trying to help my Son (x-type 2002 – 2.1 petrol) & a mate (x-type 2003 – 2.5petrol) both who are new to Jaguar, so we are all learning together.

I have come up with codes: P0171 & P0174 (plus 1111which doesn’t concern me now) & my mates also gets the No Cruise controllight.

I saw your list of helps & install, but being a bit dim,I am struggling to find your article on P0171, P0174, Cruise control light, Maf cleaning etc.

I'm sorry to be a pain, do you have time to direct me straightto it please ?

I might be seeing my mate later today, and intend to look around the air-intake bits (‘O’ rings, pipes, booster vacuum etc).

Apart from being a great all-round site, you offer masses of help & information to us all, which I appreciate.

I’m looking forward to going through other peoples tips, aswell as problems, as I go along.

All the best for now

Here's the Jaguar DTC defaults and possible causes for P0171 and P0174:

Trouble code P0171 & P0174-dtc_2.jpg

As you probably know, P1111 indicates all OnBoard tests have been completed since the last memory clear.
