Default Water Pump Replacement - Anything else?

Good day Jaguars fans and friends. I own a 2003 X-Type 2.5L V6 and I'm going to be replacing my water pump Saturday.

I'm feeling somewhat adventurous I guess, but there's just over a 100K miles on this vehicle and I have little history as to what's been done. The car seems to be in excellent order (older couple original owners) but are there any other parts or things I should be looking at having replaced while I'm in there?

Thank you for feedback in advance.

Respectfully,

Jason

I would go ahead and replace the belt while I was there, regardless of how good it looks. You want have to go back. Next spin the idler pulley by hand and make sure it feels smooth. If it doesn't toss it for a new one.

It was pretty much me bending over and watching a stream of fluids pour from the water pump.

OK, sorry Jason, the reason I ask because in your post did say any thing about leaking, replace water pump is pretty easy straight forward. Remove battery and its box, pull the tensioner to loosen the belt and take the belt out, remove just the bolts around the pump, no need to remove the whole housing, remove the pump propeller and clean any residue of the old gasket, then install the new propeller and do reverse steps, take about 20 minutes, you done.

No sorry needed. I am sorry because that came off a little rude. I appreciate you looking out. I had asked about the scale of difficulty from a few buddies when I showed them what was up. They stated that the swap was pretty easy..knocking on wood.

Jason.

Congrats on a job well done.
as this is a new to you X i would highly recommend a few preventative maintenance jobs which will save you a lot of heartache.

in order of priority.
1. change the oil in your transfer case.
2. change the oil in your transfer case. yes its that important.
3 engine oil
4 air and cabin filters
5 fuel filter
6 break fluid (turkey baste out whats there and replace no need for a full bleed)
7 check break pads
8 rear diff (same oil as transfer case can be done at same time)
9 coolant (already done with pump replacement but in here for others)
10 spark plugs

Plenty of instructions on here on how to do these jobs
and now you have piece of mind
have fun....
