Default Wiring bundle diagram.

Is there a wiring diagram that shows the routing of the wire bundles?
I have the wiring diagram that shows the electrical connections.
I want to know where the bundles run. I also want to know where
the connectors are that are around the car that connect the various
bundles together.

I am in the process of moving the navigation system from my 2003 x-type
to my 2005 x-type. I have the two cars side by side. I am hoping that
it will just be a plug in process.

I am also moving the rear parking assist. This seems to be much simpler.

Thanks,
Pete.

Pete, send me a PM with your e-mail address. I will send you the PDFs for the diagrams for both your 03 and 05 cars (the 05 drawings i have cover the 2004.25 MY, but should be the same for your 05, separate drawings for the 03). That will tell you everything that you could possibly want to know.

A lot of people have tried to swap the nav harness from one car to the other, almost all have failed, this is the best explanation i've come across;

It looks simple to retrofit a harness onto the end of the nav harness to connect to the radio and screen, but there is a twist. The factory harness connects to the cabin harness under the left rear seat cushion. I assumed that was that and everything was fine from there forward, but it was not to be. The SCP network connects under the rear seat, but it terminates in the left front footwell waiting for the dash harness to carry the signal to the screen.

To complete the wiring, remove the trim piece around the bonnet release latch, and you'll see a 12 way grey plug. It should be missing 2 wires in positions 8 and 11. Those are the yellow and blue SCP network wires. Run a twisted pair from there over to the radio plug, the yellow joining pin 11 on the grey plug to IP65-9 and the blue wire going from pin 8 to IP65-10. That will complete the harness and the retro fit should work.

Success is possible with the factory harness, and it saves needing to obtain quite a number of connectors. All that is needed is 2 pins to go in the CA240 connector, the male green connector to go in the NA24 connector and the IP70 screen connector. All of these I sourced in various Fords at the junkyard. The harness that needs to be made up then runs from the lower left fusebox to the screen, a distance of about 3'.
So you need to make up that additional loom, otherwise, it won't work...

Thanks Cambo that will be a big help!

When a had removed the non-navigation radio and climate control
panel from the car I wanted to move the car to a different place.
I tried starting it - no good. I figured OK, I can push
it to where is wanted it. Again - no good. It would not let me
take it out of park! The LCD display showed "Transmision error"?

I solved the dilema by attaching the two connectors to the remote
climate control box. Now the car would run. Still no control
panel.

Well, I have finished both jobs; the nav system and the parking
aid system. They both work OK. Thanks to Cambo for the
additional information which I surely would have missed.

However, the check engine light came on. Could this have been
the result of adding the nav system? The parking aid does not have
the serial link connected so the computer cannot know that it is there.
Does the computer need to be re-programed to accept the nav
system? Does it just need to be reset? The car runs fine.

Thanks,
Pete.

Give it some time to run. Usually when you disconnect the battery, it will show up an engine light. If running like 10 to 20 miles & it is still there, it could be something else.
You can also go to an Oreilly or Autozone & have them hook up a scanner & reset the codes.
Hope that helps.

The check engine light did go out after 20 or 30 miles so now,
all is well.

Thanks,
Pete.

That's great!
Do you have pics of the wiring harness connections from the nav to the head & the dash & bottom of the rear seats? That is pretty much what is missing from the UK forum thread.

Thermo can you send me the wiring diagram as well. Thanks.

I do have a bunch of pictures of various parts of the job. I don't have
any pictures of under the back seat. I did not have to do anything
there except plug in the connector.

However, I don't think that my pictures would add anything to the
excellent writeup posted to the forum. Some of them are pretty
bad as well. I can make them available if you are interested.

Here are the pictures that I took while installing the nav and parking aid
systyems in my 2005 x-type. The pictures are large, about 4 meg each.
I am hosting them on my system so that I don't clog up the forum.
(Is this the right thing to do?)

I made them with max resolution so that I could see which pins are
missing and see the color of the wires. I shoved the camera in places
where I could not hope to see directly.

If anyone wants to keep them you should copy them to your system.
I will take them down after a few weeks.

These are pictures of the connector block under the A pillar.

Extra Connectors in the trunk for unknown purpose;

http://home.comcast.net/~preilley_45...__nav_con2.JPG is actually the phone module connector

extra_con & extra_con1 I'm not sure, I don't remember seeing them in my car.

extra_con2 is in my car, I don't remember what it's for but i'm pretty sure nothing special

extra_con3 I have seen before, someone showed a pic, don't remember seeing it in my car either!

If extra_con2 is for the mobile phone option then extra_con4 is likely
part of that too. They are bundled together in the same branch
of the cable bundle. Possibly the antenna? I do not have a mobile
phone antenna on my car however.
