Angry 2015 Brake life

I had to replace my front brakes and rotors on my 2015 XF after 22k miles. It cost over $1000 at the dealership. Very disappointing. I drive well over 50% highway miles. Service advisor told me this is not unusual.

That was certainly typical on the X250 model XF. Heavy cars, and brake pads are relatively soft for smooth braking

Jag dealers typically seem to just replace rotors every time - should have them measure and check tolerances as in practice they should do 2 sets of pads and sometimes three

Note that an indy shop using (better) aftermarket parts is much cheaper than dealer. Last time I did mine (a 2010 XF) it was 1000 for all four wheels incl drilled / slotted rotors and ceramic pads

My 2011 XF needed brakes at around the 30K mark and after the dealer botched the job, at full dealer retail, I had my local guy redo them at about half the cost of the first one at the dealer.

Not to nitpick, but a review of the 2015 XF brakes needs to be in the correct forum for that (X250) and not this one. It may be misleading to those seeking information about the new model. Surprised that the mods haven't moved it.

'Had to', 'were told to' or 'chose to'?

The pads might be worn by 22K miles but the rotors should be good for at least two if not three sets of pads.

A new set of pads is about $50-$100.

You'll find these cars to be very expensive to maintain if you go to a dealership.

This x1000. Mechanics in the US are obsessed with changing the discs with every set of pads.

It may not be ops fault. The header for this section says XF (X260) with a subtitle of "2015 onwards". Needs to be changed to show 2016 onwards to prevent confusion.

I agree the section title here is misleading. Thanks!
