Default ECOSmart Leaves Engine Off

Suddenly when ECO Smart turns off the engine, it stays off. Quite embarrassing in traffic. 2014 XF

In my reply to your Intro (https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...member-166461/ : see post #2), I included the following:

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
This is a classic example of why we ask all members to include vehicle details.

Thanks - I've seen the edit here and your test post in Intro to check your new Signature details.

I haven't read a good word about ECOSmart. It seems to be the one thing members dislike about their Jaguars. Your issue has a risk of going from just embarrassing to dangerous in traffic.

If there's little or no response here in General Tech Help forum over the weekend, I'll move the thread to X250 forum.

Default EcoSmart Problem Solved By Software Upgrade

At least that's what the dealer told me. More likely a fimware upgrade. If you don't know the difference, there's no point explaining it.

But when I dropped it off: instead if the older S-type I received as a loaner last time:

Somehow during software upgrade, the hood open switch failed which the dealer noticed during test drive. Went back today for replacement of bad switch. Hood Open condition prevents EcoStart from working and locking of car. Fortunately Valet mode still works so just moved the handgun into glove compartment. (This is Idaho.) Today, car is back home; everything works again.
