Next Jaguar XF to Enter the Market in 2015

"The Jaguar XF is the model that sits at the heart of the British brand’s resurrection process, with the vehicle being a true symbol of what a contemporary Jaguar means.

Carrying such a heavy burden on its fenders, the vehicle is now preparing to receive a facelift, which will allow it to offer enhanced features in order to keep fighting German rivals. However, Jaguar is already looking ahead, working on the next generation of the XF, as Autobild reports.

The next incarnation of the British saloon is expected to come with important changes and will be brought to the market in early 2015.

The vehicle will follow Jaguar’s Premium Lightweight Architecture, which will be used for all future cars belonging to the company. The aluminum construction concept, which was introduced on the XJ model, will make wonders for the future XF, keeping the weight down and thus increasing all-round performance and making the car more fuel-efficient.

The car will use a completely new platform that will offer one of the best compromises between dynamics and comfort and will come with a design that will borrow many styling cues from that of the current XJ.

However, the most significant changes will take place in the drivetrain area. The automotive producer will introduce a flybrid system that will being an extra 80 hp and cut fuel consumption by 20 percent. In addition to that, customers will be able to choose between rear-wheel-drive and front-wheel-drive, with this being a first. UP NEXT: Lamborghini Jota Sketch Makes Us Dream

This is useful information. Thank you. I was pondering when the next XFR might be due, so it looks like it's at least 2015 if not later.

i've only had my XF for about 6 months and while it's still awesome, i am envisioning the replacement, once i get it payed off in 4 1/2 years. i DID get a chance to test drive a 495 hp F-Type yesterday though and if you haven't done it, i highly recommend it.

outrageously fast. absolutely, 100% feel-your-face-get-pulled-off fast. and its beautiful of course. and then there's that sound. and did i mention it's fast?

Sounds great
Any idea why it might offer a choice of rear-wheel or front-wheel drive but not an all-wheel drive? RWD and AWD makes sense to me - but not sure why front-wheel?

AWD will also be available on all future Jaguar sedans. The fwd/rwd options mean awd will also be an option.

Though I do not doubt that a revised XF may be coming in 2015, this article is from late 2010, is it not? For example, they talk about the "vehicle is now preparing to receive a facelift" - which is the facelift that occurred for MY12.

The "latest" seems to be: Crossover and baby jag or one or the other first, followed by the F Type Coupe, the replacement for the XK and then the new aluminum XF.

The XF is to move up in size a bit after the new baby jag supplies the mid size market. Jaguar won't bother making a real compact car.

The real teaser is will Jaguar succumb to the Crossover mania and badge a Range Rover Evoque as a Jag? The current issue of Jaguar World Monthly resurrected a story about the first diesel concept "car" preceding the S Type diesel which looked awfully similar to the Evoque. Hmmm.
