Default Oil filter location 2010 XFR

Dumb question I know, but did some research on google and could not really come up with a definitive answer, plan on changing out the oil on my 2010 XFR tonight, have an oil extractor so was planning on going in from the top and sucking the old oil out, was wondering if I even need to borrow my buddys ramps to get underneath, or is the filter accessible from the top?

Thanks

Filter is inside a plastic cover on top of the engine. Looks just like a normal filter, it is just a case for the filter element. You do not need to raise the car at all. Just lift the hood.

You might need a proper oil filter removal tool to get it off, sometimes the gorillas at the dealership do it up so tight it's damn near impossible to loosen!

The oil filter is top side under an oil filter housing, and you'll need a strap wrench or dedicated Jag oil filter housing wrench to get the filter housing off. No need to get under the car though.

Thanks guys, still not got round to doing it, should hopefully get on it tonight, another dumb question, the manual say 7.7 quarts of oil is the capacity and I know most will say, replace exactly what I suck out, but I am not certain that have the correct amount of oil in there at present as when I try and check the level the display simple reads - 'Not available - refer to handbook'

Warm the engine up and let it sit for 10 minutes, then the oil level readout should work.
Also, if you don't want to wait 10 minutes, what works for some (including me) is simply pop the bonnet and the oil level readout works straight away.
However you should read the level with a warm engine not a cold one.
Lastly, the oil capacity of the XFR is 7.25 litres, which I think converts to around 7.65 US quarts.
So you are safe to remove all the existing oil and put 7.25 litres back in.
