Cool Trunk warning light

I have a 2009 XF and the open trunk warning light is on after my wife slammed the trunk closed. I replaced the trunk latch , however, the warning light is still on. the wires appear to be intact, so before I head over to the JAG Dealer to give them my Wife's arm and leg any other suggestion i might have missed??

Don't slam the trunk lid! It closes easily with a slight push. It should not be an expensive issue to fix it!

It's interesting you say that hlgeorge. Mine closes partly with a slight push but the trunk lid open light remains on and it's clearly clipped but not shut and rattles around. To make it really shut needs a bit of a slam. If yours shuts easily, I wonder if there is an adjustment issue on mine?

Sounds like the latch may be loose and it needs the slam pressure to push it down. It should close tightly with a slight push down.

Hey Folks Thanks to all for your input. The last resort came down to the Dealership. Trunk wiring harness was the issue as well. The Mrs. slammed it pretty hard and caused some of the wiring to become separated from inside the connector...go figure! So if anyone else comes across this issue and replaces the latch and still gets the warning light. Go ahead and replace the harness as well...Cheers
