Arrow The Ultimate LED Q&A Thread

I figured I might as well start a Master How-To Thread on Interior/Exterior LED's for the Jaguar XF's. I spent my day off taking some pix and some ideas on ho to remove panels and install LED's on the inside and outside of the Jaguar XF. I will add to this as I take more pix and add LED's in my spare time so check back from time to time to see what's new.

This thread should also keep new threads from starting and also help those who actually use the search button.
Without further a do here is what I got so far.

There front Headlight Housings are removed by 3 simple 10mm bolts, 2 are visible soon as you open the hood and 1 is in the only small hole in your plastic wheel behind the headlight, be sure not to lose or drop that one.
Remove the headlight by starting at the inside by the high beam area and tilt it out and upward, then the parking light side will come out. Unplug the 1 master wire harness and slide the black lock clip for the headlight washer and then pull that hose off. I was able to change my lights without totally removing the harness or the headlight washer though, plenty of room to work with. I did not change all my headlight bulbs i nthe housing yet as I am awaiting for new ones to arrive but I have attached some pix for you guys to get an idea how easy it is to do so.
Parking light bulb:

HID ballast that twists off easy if you wish to change the bulb color of your current stock HID that is D1S type:

Hgh Beam bulb H7 Type twist out simply:

The tiny parking light in between the high and low beam is a 194 Type bulb and pulls straight out by the tab in the pic:

The side entry lights under the mirror pop out by using a small pick or tiny flat screw driver by inserting into the only slot under the dead center of the bottom of the side mirror glass. Beter instructions are in a PDF in this thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-lights-76687/

I used all pure white 5k color 194 style LED's for all my LED needs on my XF. I also made sure to use the small 5 LED type so they fit in all the locations like stock. There is no blue color at all. When night time comes I will post some night shots of the lighting.

Arrow Interior LED

Here is some of the Interior LED's I did :
Map lights are 194 as well, just pry out from the outer edge closest to the sunroof and it will drop down to access the 3 bulbs.

The floor lights are 194 but I used a plug in panel LED that comes with double sticky tape on it and fits perfect:

The rear map light come out by again prying the lense out, then the surrounding ring will allow it to come down to access them.

The trunk light sucked so I had 2 8inch LED strip lights laying around I stuck the metal under deck and wired into the 2 wires for the trunk light and took the stock blb out. Took only 10 min to do. And the light is so even and perfect.

Here is a pic of the 5 LED style you need to fit in all the locations, look at the tower type and the other type that is wider, do NOT get anything wider than the 5 LED tower type or it will not fit in the holes! Even the plate lights are shallow, I used red LED in my plate light to blend with the reast of the red color on the back of the car. The bright white plate lights stands out to much to me. The panel light in the pic is the type I used for the foot wells.

When I post pix at night I think the camera will make it look super bright and it is not, it is so perfect and even.

Buy them from ebay for the most part. I am having a hard time finding 12275 for the rear signal lights. Are there another names for these? Why can't I seem to find any through ebay? Did you use a different bulb and what do these ones look like? I thought if I am changing my backup lights I might as well do my rear signal lights. Let me know when you get a chance BigCat.

Do the 5202 or H16's work for these lights? Wondering if they are a straight plug in or are they on a 90 degree? I see some of those around too? These are the same lights as the backup's 5201?

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/TWO-Orange-AM...ht_3438wt_1187

Thanks again,

Aaron

I didnt do the rear tails due to the recall on the oem leds going out, I am awaiting the new sets to come in from the dealer under warranty. Then I will mod the rears. Check your stock led tails for any that might be out so you can have brand new sets put in under warranty. Be warned, the new set mold look like they were made cheap, my originals looked so much better made. And make sure they clear the rear lamp out code that is stored long term in the ECU.

I have been using LED's in cars and others since they came out and I would highly suggest to buy all your LED's from V-LEDS.COM | LED Dome, Map, License Plate, Reverse, DRL, Turn Signal, Brake Lights first.

Then from superbrightleds.com second.

And third www.autolumination.com Tail Light Brake Light Turn Signal LED Bulbs as they will have all the odd and wild fitting leds.

Last spot is EBAY of course.

I would appreciate more information on "prying out/prying down" the interior overhead light panels. The exact procedure, what tool you used, etc. before starting this upgrade. THANKS!!!

Yea I will complete this upgrade as soon as my LED's get here (has almost been a month in shipping) but am nervous about "prying" anything inside my car. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

P.S. did the white LED's for the license plate...looks nice. Have some red ones on order to see which I like more.

I did the white vs. red licence plate option. What are your guys thoughts on which is better? I think the white looks flashy a bit (which I am not opposed to) and the red is a bit dark. Any comments are great!

The red may not be legal, but I personally like the white better.

I did the panel floor lamps today as done by BigCat09. They worked very well except they were a bitch to install. I couldn't get the plugs to fit into the lamp sockets and when I finally did, I had to remove them to bend the plugs wires to make contact with the socket contacts. The passenger side is still a little iffy. It kept going on and off when I wiggled the plug in the socket. I pulled it out slightly and it quit, so I left it alone, but I have a suspicion I will have to work on it more. Looks great though!! Waiting on the LEDs for the overhead lights to arrive.
