Resetting the service light on a Jaguar XF
Press and hold the rear lamp switch (while the ignition is on).
Press the start button without applying the foot brake.
Release the rear fog lamp switch.
Press and hold the trip computer cycle switch.
Press and hold the rear fog lamp switch.
Continue to hold the trip computer and rear fog lamp switches.
The message center should display "resseting service mode" and then "service mode reset"
Release the trip computer and the fog lamp switches and turn the ignition off.

I switched the engine off without touching break whilst holding the lamp switch in
held the light smitch in then turned the engine on
held in the stalk and lamp switch together for ten seconds
but all that happened was that the trip computer reset all fuel consuption averages
