my cigar lighter in a 1997 jag xj6 will not work. do not want to use as lighter but power source. have a new unit installed. replaced all fuses. no power to the wires connecting to the unit. could the relay be bad. as the maintenance manual states one of the unit is connected to one of the relays. help!

The Cigar Lighter is usually first choice as a power source when looking to hook up accessories and the harness or connections could have been tapped, cut or disconnected almost anywhere by a PO.

The relay is located in the RH heelboard.

If you have power here it's then down to tracing forwards to check for continuity to the Cigar Lighter or running a new RK (Red/Pink) supply.

There is an extra factor, the relay has a fuse for the feed to the cigar lighter, but also has a fuse which enable the relay (you expect other electrical items to have failed in that case as the fuse is common to a number of things)

BTW Grahams first slide is for the lighting of the cigar lighter, not the power supply to the lighter itself.
