Default Garage Opener 1997 VDP

OK. Printed off all of the instructions from Homelink and the TSB's regarding how to program my garage door buttons and I cannot get it to work.

I cleared the old programming and got the blinking light.

I hit the button on my transmitter and the button on my Jag and get the rapid blinking light.

Since my opener is the Intel #2 random coding (2005 model) , I hit the learn button and pressed the Jag button 3, 4, 5 times for 2 seconds and the door does not open.

Tried over and over and still nothing.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't really know what that means but it sounds like a 'rolling code' opener (versus fixed code or maybe analog code?). In any case, the X300 GDO system won't work with a rolling code door opener.

Cheers

Me neither.... but for me the key terms were "2005" & "1997"
Homelink adapted to rolling code in 1998 on their modules and I suspect it would be difficult to find a GDO manufactured in 2005 that was NOT rolling code.

But take heart! You haven't quite yet read ALL of the TSB's: Bob (Motorcarman) posted one with the part number of a retrofit module for the X300 that does rolling codes. He was unaware if still available from the dealer. I haven't checked the dealer; but Google has precious little on it.
Good luck & post back if you find one. Otherwise, you can allegedly obtain a $15-$20 bit on Amazon/EBay that mounts to the garage wall and allows your non-rolling code Homelink to work with your GDO. Not certain but try "universal garage door opener" on one of those sites.

Searched Ebay and the Internet for the module or a universal repeater. Nothing. I emailed a Jag dealer with the part number. Let's see what they have to say.

I have a console from an 98 XJ8, it opened the garage doors. It was a simple plug-and-play.

HOWEVER, the dome lights worked in reverse. The lights were on when the doors were closed, and off when they opened. The ribbon cable from the switch pack to the opener module was different, so I switched out both the buttons and the module. Ended up switching everything back, and put a used Homelink module in the driver's visor.

I just install a new garage door opener. Not only can't I program my X300, my 2013 Range Rover Evoque doesn't like it either.

Just got a call from the Jaguar dealer. The module to replace the Homelink in my Jag to make it work with rolling code garage openers is just over $500. My handheld garage door opener looks great attached to my visor.

Did they possibly provide a part number?

Yes, they did, but I did not write it down because of the high cost. The part number has changed from the part number in the TSB. Call the Saint Louis Jag Dealer, Parts Department. That is who I called. Good luck.

Default modification of X308 GDO to X300 configuration

This will convert the X308 rolling code module to work in a X300.....
