Default Service-bulletin + Wiring-diagram Radio AJ9500R (ALPINE)

Does anybody knows where I can find service bulletins or wiring diagrams for the X300 Radio (AJ9500R ALPINE)?

It is just dead but has power where needed - as far as it can be checked without documentation. iPod will be with power supplied when attached on the back.

It all started when it was not possible to start the radio. After a time it started playing without doing anything. Sometimes there were days between the breaks.

No it is not working for weeks. I assume it has something with "heat" to do?

Thanks for inputs or links to wiring diagrams and SB's

Daniel

I think all AJ9500R radios die eventually and there didn't seem to be much you can do about it. I just put a Bluetooth hands free in the ash tray and left the dead radio face in the hole. I'll wire the faceplate in to an MP3 player at some point, but for now at least I have music.

They can be repaired by sending it in to United Radio, in theory, but it isn't cheap at ~$175.

I also picked up a parts donor 9500 from the wrecking yard for about $15 that I'll send with my working unit.

I haven't sent mine in yet as I can still get mine to work with some fiddling, although I do plan to likely send it in later this year once I address some other priorities.

I may also just open up the parts unit to see what's going on inside. I may be able to figure out what's wrong (such as cold solders) myself.

United Radio in New York?

$225 a few years ago.

Great outfit.....but unable to fix the AJ9500 unit sent them after 4 or 5 attempts. I sent a 'parts radio' along as well, as I recall. I eventually asked for my money back.

I'm not trying disparage them as they gave it their best shot and were very nice to work with. But be prepared for the possibility that they might not be able to fix yours.

Cheers

Yeah, www.unitedradio.com

They quoted me $175 to repair, but that's true.... they may or may not be able to do so.

I definitely want to keep the stock unit if possible.

Yep, this issue and repairing it myself is what I've been considering versus sending mine in. My radio has the same intermittent symptoms as described in the link above, and definitely seems sensitive to "warming up" which would lend itself to things like cracked or "cold" solder joints.

One of my hobbies is the occasional refurb of 1950s-1980s stereo equipment, so I'm reasonably handy with an iron. So perhaps I'll just take mine apart and see what I can find.

Thanks for the link!
