Question XJR running gear in something else......

Can anyone point me in the direction of some instructions (if they exist) for details of how to wire in an XJR engine and box into a different vehicle please? My car has terminal rot in the bulkhead, so rather than waste all the money I've spent on the running gear I've decided to use it in something else I own. Thanks in advance.....

I'm not aware of any already-written tutorials on the subject. I think you're on your own.

A few XJR/6 drivetrains have found their way into other Jags (a couple recently came up on Ebay, for example) so you might be able to track the owners and get some advice.

I'm not aware of any installation into a non-Jaguar car.

Others will chime in.

Cheers
DD

The best thing to do is obtain the JDHT CD for the XJR, as all the electrical manuals and diagrams are there. If you can read the diagrams, it will tell you all you need to know.

I'm looking into doing an XJR engine swap into a Daimler DS420 at the moment and a friend of mine who is an electrical engineer has looked over the diagrams and said it shouldn't be that difficult.

One thing I would do if I was you is get a North American market ECU, not a UK/European market ECU because the North American cars do not have the fuel inhibit signal from the security module. Or perhaps XJR Engineer can reprogram the ECU for you?

I know this combination of engine and transmission has been put into other vehicles, but I've never seen a tutorial of how to do it.

Thanks for the replies Gents. I've looked through the wiring diagrams and the only problem I could foresee was the alarm/immobiliser link - I'll get in touch with Andy to see what he can suggest. I think it'll be a case of stripping the car methodically and seeing how it runs while taking bits off - very scientific!
