Driver-side Door repair issues. HELP.
So yesterday I put in a new door cable after mine had snapped. The cable I got seems a little too long and I got everything seated. The problem is now when I lock the car its locks then unlocks three times then beeps after being locked. Heres a picture on how I had to place it. does anyone know if I was sent the wrong length. Im contemplating taking off the passengers door panel and seeing what I did wrong.

Hi,
I've had two cables break on my 1995 XJ that I bought new. I haven't replaced one in some time and I can't absolutely tell from your pic but I think the cable is not mounted correctly. I remember I had to take a pair of slip-joint pliers and sort of press the cable housing into the lock housing. It did not go to place without some pressure.
Taking a peek at the other front door would tell.
Good luck.

The plastic ferrule goes back one more 'slot'.
The metal end on the outer sheath is the one that goes into the slot that the plastic part is in now.
You will need a mirror to see the inner latch release lever I'm talking about.
Roll the window UP to get more room to work.
There is also a little black metal clip to hold the metal end of the out cable sheath in the slot. It is missing in your picture.

Agree with Brutal on the relocation of the rubber like boot that should be in the slot. I think to provide some softness and noon rattle. Also, if you happen to remove the drivers door handle, make sure the rods are adjusted so that the door unlocks with the key in case the battery is dead.
