1998 XJ8 sunroof problem
Hi all,
I am new to the site. I replaced the headliner material in my friend's 98 XJ8. Reinstalled the headliner and I noticed that the interior headliner-covered larger sunroof panel has dropped about 1" on the rear passenger side, preventing it from sliding back. Looking in from the outside when I tilt the sunroof open in the rear, and when I push this panel up from the inside, I can see a scissored metal arm with a pin mounted horizontally on the end come down. In comparing this to the driver's side, it looks like the pin should fit into a hole in the plastic slide that slides the smaller panel in the rear back and forth. The pin will not stay in the slide as the arm pulls back toward the center of the window. Since the pin has a groove around the circumference of it's middle, I assume something like a D-ring should go there to hold it in the slide, but there is not enough clearance to see this on the one still in place on the driver's side. However, even if this pin is in place in the slide, it would not raise the large panel back up, so I feel something else is wrong. I do not know how to get this panel out so I can see what is wrong. I searched the site and from other previous posts, it looks like this panel simply slides out from the top, but I don't have access to JTIS (a second post about that to follow), so I am wondering if anyone may assist.
Thanks,
EChem

Hi
I just finished a post about sunroof rattling that you should look:

View post#2, it gives weblinks to other sunroof threads on this forum and gives information about a sunroof clip kit that maybe available.
