Unhappy air mass meter/sensors

Hi I am sure by now you have yours sorted, but i have same age car but 4.0
i changed the air mass it was a 1620 CA,my guy changed it to a 1620 CB whoever he spoke to said it would be fine and that CB superceeded CA but since changing my fuel economy has gone DOWN by about 20%.........
any ideas?what happened with yours ?
Cheers

Default 1620ca,1620cb

Ok then...you went from a 'New part no' CB to an OLd one..CA.
Three Jag dealers tell me CB superceeded CA so i think that i need to get hold of a CA to hopefully rectify my F.Consumption.
I will have to try a breaker here In UK to see if i can get 2nd hand one.
Thanks
NB

satpal, you can always try a hard reset to force the car to immediately adapt to the new air flow sensor output, instead of gradually. I did this after my MAFs cleaning and it helped in achieving an immediate MPG increase.

Default maf air meter.

Hi Matt,
Ok,is that something i can do? or i presume it would be with the Diagnostics box connected.
I have never had to get involved this deep with my car.

Default Eureka!! it worked.

Hi well i cant believe it...my god did it work???!!
I drove thru London(and across and out the other side )early this morning and got about 20.MPG which was great(traffic was not too heavy i know how to avoid the major jams plus it was very early 6.15 am)so that was promising.
on my way back this afternoon,I reset the trip and i came on the freeway(M25 motorway UK)
I did a steady 60-70mph after about 40 miles i checked the trip meter it was reading 34 MPG. which is a figure i have never even got close to before..
FANTASTIC,FANTASTIC.Alsoas i run on LPG so at almost half price of petrol am getting 60mpg + at petrol prices........and driving the best car(and forum ) known to mankind!!
Thanks all......but one question how many people are driving around just accepting what mechanics say???....mine(a Jag Master tech) said 'maybe its the new gearbox....'the cars old.....'blah 'blah' this' that........you'd think these people would know????
anyway once again hopefully this post may help someone else?
regards
to one and alll
Bye NB
