Talking Trouble, trouble, trouble

KorvetKeith, it sure sounds like the cam timing was the issue. PDRey55, it sounds like you need an OBDII code reader. They are not that expensive now days. Check around. I have an UltraGauge that displays all kinds of useful info while you are driving as well as displaying and resetting trouble codes. BTW, don't trust the temp gauge on these cars. They are notorious for telling you the engine has overheated after you're sitting on the side of the road with coolant spraying everywhere.

P1121 persists and puts my car into engine failsafe mode, a lot. I replaced the pins (looks like it had been done before) for the TPS and the TB was rebuilt, as previously stated. Fork this car.

what's wrong with slapping a recon TB on it, with a warranty? The P1121 is throttle pedal position sensor, TPPS, not TPS.

I got the TB rebuilt by ASI already.

Where is the TPPS?

Keith:
As you actually noticed early on in your postings, the AJ 27 throttle body has two sensors, one for the throttle pedal position and one for the throttle plate position. Since it it throttle by wire, the two are not necessarily the same.

Right, so I should be calling ASI? Does anyone know if they replace that when they rebuild the TB?

A new to me throttle body from a salvage car solved this problem. So much for the ASI rebuild.

Wow, seems like bad news as I want to have a rebuilt thru ASI as well. For the money they ask, both sensors should be changed! I want to have a rebuilt and to have the TB sent overseas , so a guarantee claim will cost a lot on shipping.

Keith
ASI has a warantee on rebuilding Throttle Body. Have you called ASI and made them aware of the problems you have with the Throttle Body rebuild???

It is important that ASI makes good on any problems with the Throttle Body they rebuild.
A lot of us on this forum (including myself) have used ASI and had no issues with them.
I like to know if and how they responded (you probably have contacted them by now).
