Gas tank cover won't open...Help
I recently brought my 2004 Xj8 in to have new brakes. I have noticed that when it rains my keyless remote doesn't work until about 3 days after. Today, I went to get gas, and the gas cover won't open! Could something have gone wrong when they put the front brakes, or are these problems be totally unrelated? My mechanic won't be open until Monday. Thank you in advance for your help.

There is a lock on the fuel fill lid. It locks when the car is locked. It should unlock when when you unlock the car. If not then then the lock solenoid might have gone bad. I would not think it has any relation to your brake job, unless they had a reason to be messing around in the trunk. You can release the lock manually from inside the trunk. You will have to pull back the carpeting on the riverside of the trunk and that will expose the lock mechanism for the fuel fill lid. Then you just need to use your finger and you can push the lock mechanism into the unlock position. Hope this helps.

It is fixed!
I took your advice and the opened the cap manually from the trunk. I left it ajar and drove to the gas station because I was very low on gas. When I got there, the attendant sprayed lithium lubricant on it and now it is working! Thank you for your help. It is much appreciated.
