Default Removing exhaust tips on '07 XJ8

I want to remove the exhaust tips so I can clean/polish them, but from what I can see, it looks like they're welded in place. True? or is there an easy way to get them off?
Any input appreciated...

Rufus

they are almost surely welded on...you'll have to polish them in situ.

Nope, they're held on with a single screw, but seem welded on after a couple of years of road filth has crept into the gap between pipe and trim piece.

I tried to remove mine. Took the screw off then found the damned thing would not move, so decided it's better just to get out a kneeling pad and polish in situ.

Same on my tips, they cleaned up great with a dish-washing pad.

I stand corrected. Haven't seen a manufacturer put the screws on the tips in a long time.

Mine were only held on with the screw that was not easy to get loose.

I just took a much closer look and they are indeed welded on. One spot on the upper inside, and one spot on the lower outside.
