Maintenance costs

It's impossible to answer your questions without more information.
Repairs. Do you have all the service records? Was it always serviced "by the book"? How many previous owners, and in what states? Any damage due to accidents, flood, etc.? Was it always garaged? Exposed to adverse weather and road conditions, such as salt de-icer? There are just too many questions to ask. A well-maintained 2011 XJ with 100,000 mostly highway miles probably will be more reliable than a similar 2011 XJ with only 10,000 miles that was driven by a little old lady only on Sundays who ran it at the dragstrip 1/4 mile at a time.
Price. Where are you? Price varies depending on location, condition of the car, color, engine, options, type of seller (dealer or private party), where the seller got the car (auction, trade-in, repo, etc.), type of title (clean, salvage), and more. You can get a rough idea of what it's worth by going to the online valuation websites such as cars.com, kbb.com, Edmunds.com, and many others.
Happy Hunting.

There's Scheduled Maintenance and there's Repairs. Two different things.
Scheduled Maintenance is on a mileage or time elapsed basis (every 10k Miles or 12 Months - whichever comes sooner).
Repairs are when something breaks and no one can predict that.
No Jaguar is low cost transport. Using dealers is expensive. Independent specialists can significantly reduce running costs but the most cost effective way is to do repairs and maintenance yourself as many of our members do.

My X351 is a similar age and had it's 100,000 mile birthday just before the last service. Average servicing and repair costs for each year I have owned it have not increased significantly as the mileage increased and are £1200pa, or £100pm. That's on par with my X350s.
That includes the following non-standard service repairs:
- New brakes and tyres last year
- New intercooler 3 years ago *
- New washer bottle, hoses and headlamp washer jets 3 years ago *
The two marked * above required non-scheduled visits to repair, but every other year it has only been in for the scheduled service.
(Recently I had to return mine to the dealer for new brake calipers after they damaged the originals at the last service, however I did not pay for that repair so I am not including that above.)
The car is a keeper for me, so I am planning to replace the coolant hoses once at 10 years as rubber hoses can start to degrade and fail around that age, which will be about £1,500 or an extra £150pa over the 10 years.
In the UK at least most dealers will offer fixed price servicing for out of warranty cars (3 years here). That often makes annual servicing cost-comparable with indpendant garages, with the advantage that they will carry out the ancillary service items like greasing the sunroof and door hinges, etc, which independants usually will not bother with. Some will also offer reduced parts and labour charges for any repair work if you also service the vehicle with them as a way for them to keep your business.
As you are looking at a used car a lot of the future maintenance costs will be dependant on how well it was looked after by the previous owner/s, and random luck of the draw as well. If the vehicle has a full service history and shows signs of some repairs done to it (which almost all cars should have by that age) then I wouldn't be too concerned. If there have been a lot of repeat repairs to the same thing then I would want to know why to check there isn't an ongoing issue.
