Wolfy,
Yes, but the sword cuts both ways.
If - and that's a YUGE "if" - it does get enacted (which I doubt), that will also boost the prices of used Jaguars, which will be a windfall for current owners. In that case, the strategy would be for businesses to lease the new ones and take whatever tax writeoffs might still be available, and when those vehicles are traded in, buy them as CPO at a 40% or more discount from MSRP. That worked for me with both of my Jaguars.
The reason I believe that Trump's proposal won't pass is because, once all of the consequences are fully thought out and evaluated, the "cons" will outweigh the"pros". A thorough discussion of this issue is beyond the scope this thread.

The President can't unilaterally change taxes by Executive Order. He can only make recommendations for tax legislation that may or may not be acted on by the House of Representatives, which is where the Constitution says that tax laws are to be originated. After due consideration, the House passes that bill on to the Senate for their consideration and, when finalized, it is sent to the President for his signature. If you want to learn about the entire process, see: https://www.treasury.gov/resource-ce...s/writing.aspx

Heh, you might start paying prices closer to what the rest of the world does now.
For a long time it was cheaper to buy a Jaguar in the US than it was in Britain.
Just FYI a new X351 XJR costs USD $248'000 in Australia, how much is it in the States? $118k according to the internets...

The 550HP 2017 XJR LWB starts at US$121,000. To paraphrase Crocodile Dundee, "You're gonna need a bigger wallet, mate!"
I hope this link works in Australia: Build your 2017 XJ - Nameplates

I don't think these taxes will apply to Made in England products, and consider that the price also has to do with the exchange rate. British pound has always been more expensive than the Yen for example. You need around US$1.25 to buy one british pound, while with one dollar you can buy around 113 yen.
