1996 Jaguar/Daimler Double-Six XJ12 tool/programming
Hi, I have a 1996 Daimler Double-Six XJ12 (pics included) that I'm working on in my garage and and there is a problem with the Security / Immobilizer system. Changed the body control module and I now need to program it. I was told that a tool called the Jaguar GenRad could work on it. I found a sale for the tool online and before I purchase it, I want to be sure that it can work (read codes, data, program etc.) Any help/info would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Deans Auto,
I have not heard of a Jaguar GenRad. I know that the car is OBDII compliant and many different types of scanners will work to view and clear engine codes. But there is no device on the market that I've ever heard of, that can program the control modules in this car. That can only be done with dealer equipment (WDS). Problem is, very few dealers still have that old equipment. Often times the independent shops that specialise in Jaguar will have it.
When you say you replaced the body module do you mean the security system module? There is a separate module under the dash called the body processor module. It is programmable with the WDS system. Some of its functions are related to the security system.
If it is the key and immobiliser that need matching up, a dealer might still be of help. But I don't know if that particular device is called GenRad. USA vehicles don't have key matched security system immobilisers, thankfully.
