Ilya, as for finding parts, your common parts like spark plugs, oil, oil filters, etc will be able to be picked up at any auto parts store. But, if you need parts for the engine, interior trim pieces, etc, then you are almost garanteed to end up at the dealership. With that being said, there are places online that you can get the parts (there is a member here-Ken@britishparts.com- that can get you parts for the car and also you can check out http://www.jaguarparts.com-dealership out of Cleveland Ohio- both have really good prices on parts for the car).

The other thing that I would look into is finding a shop in the local neighborhood that works on cars like this. I would not recommend taking this car to just any Joe Schmoe shop in the neighborhood. Doing this can lead to more problems than it is worth. Spending the few extra dollars at a more specialized shop will be money well spent. Granted, with this forum, you can do a lot of the more normal stuff yourself and save yourself a lot of money. All depends on your mechanical ability.

So, enjoy and post more with the forums.

Thumbs up

Mines done over 108300 miles but its diesel not petrol

No real dramas except a new diesel injector at 104000 miles, repair done on the A pillar near the roof welded for bubbling on the weld, the lights recoded to the car (werent auto dipping) and a new rear door lock again all under warranty.

Other than that Ive found it to be an absolutely fantstic car (as long as your careful on snow/ice!!) and dont neeed a curry hook on the glovebox like X-Type owners have

Agree about the work being done by someone who knows about them, mine gets serviced by a Jag trained independant http://www.jagtech.co.uk/ who has the tools, software etc to do any work a dealer does but only charges GB£35/hr compared to GB£115/hr at the dealer

I think some parts are shared with the S Type eg droplinks etc
Hope he gets it

A good friend of mine has put 160,000 on his 2004 XJ8. He is the reason that I bought mine (I've got 53k on an '04). His only major repair was replacing the radiator at 150,000. Other than that it's been great. He's been a Jag driver since the early 80s and raves about the improvements Jaguar made the 04 and up models. We have both had some minor sensor issues where the car gives some faulty error readings however with today's cars you are going to have that. A co-worker of mine bought a new 2009 BMW X5 and it had so many computer issues that they gave him a new one after he drove it 13,000 miles. My point is you can have that with any high end, computer loaded car. JD Power just rated Jaguar (along with Buick) at the top spot for quality ratings. They went from 10th to 1st and nudged out Lexus. He'll love it.

I average 20 mpg on a mix of city/highway driving. You'll get around 28-30 cruising on the highway. It's unbelievable.

Thermo,

For your information I have been trying to contact www.jaguarparts.com for some time now. I do not think they are in business anymore. I have emailed them several times asking if there is anybody there, no reply.

I just got back from a nice, 1500+ mile road trip from San Antonio, TX to Northeast Arkansas (home for Christmas), then from there to Baton Rouge, LA and back to San Antonio. Interstate everywhere except the last 30 miles in NE Arkansas. Cruising at 70-75 mph (with occasional bursts to 90 !), I averaged 25.5 mpg for the trip. The ride was smooth as silk. This was in an '04 XJ8 with about 78k miles. With the trip computer set to "instant mpg", in some of the flatter areas (LA, TX) I saw moments of 27-28 mpg.

I love this car!
