The 3 litre V6 is probably the best of the engines, although some people say it's not powerful enough. Well, it's powerful enough for me anyway !! Reliability is top-notch.

Brief update:

The seller refused to mend anything, so we negotiated the price and I got the car for $3800 ($3000 for the seller, $800 for customs clearance and registration)!

I took the car for thorough inspection and here are the issues:
1. Rear speed sensor malfunction is the reason for ABS, DSC and check engine light. The seller will receive the item in nearest week or so and he is giving it me free of charge.
2. There is a small oil leak from oil pan. Nothing major, just requires new gasket or something like that.
3. In the front suspension, lower arm bushings (frontal) and air shock bushings need replacement.
4. The steering wheel is squeaking when I turn it - there is something rubbing onto rubber part of some kind. I have no idea what is it.

Some upgrades that I want to make:
1. There is no hood ornament there (The Jaguar flat logo is there, but not the ornament itself. There is no holes either. Btw, are these interchangeable with ones on x and s types?
2. There is no Bluetooth for my phone and I really really need one.
3. The rear view camera would be great

All in all I am very happy with the purchase!

Thanks you all for your comments and suggestions!

Best of wishes,
Greg.

Hi Greg,
Wrt steering wheel squeaking, depending on how it happens, there is a well known fix which is a special Jaguar fluid to be put in the steeing fluid reservoir. Make a research in the forum (if I find it I will give the link).

Thank you for info. I think this sound comes from inside the car, although I cannot be sure. I will definately check all fluid reservoirs today

Jaguar reference for the fluid is C2S 48887.
The Jaguar Technical Bulletin is JTB 00055

1. Rear speed sensor malfunction is the reason for ABS, DSC and check engine light. The seller will receive the item in nearest week or so and he is giving it me free of charge.

Good that you're getting the part to fix it. I had to replace one of mine last year, and replacement takes about 10 minutes.

2. There is a small oil leak from oil pan. Nothing major, just requires new gasket or something like that.

New gasket is not expensive, but there is quite a bit of dismantling of other parts to get at the sump to remove it to replace the gasket.

3. In the front suspension, lower arm bushings (frontal) and air shock bushings need replacement.

This quite normal for these cars, the lower suspension bushes and the shock bushes don't last long. Personally, I don't think it is a good design if things last such a little time. My daughters FIAT 500 has hardly had a spanner laid on it and the car is now on 95k miles !! A lesson for Jaguar perhaps

4. The steering wheel is squeaking when I turn it - there is something rubbing onto rubber part of some kind. I have no idea what is it.

This can be as 'paydase' said, but I also had a squeaking noise that was definitely inside the upper steering column.I just ignored it.My current car (X358) doesn't have the noise so I suspect it is only early cars that are affected

There are indeed several possible causes for the squeaking of the steering wheel.
Here are the two I am aware of, with the technical bulletins.

My car is G29843, so it seems just the fluid will be enough
I already asked Jaguar dealership to get this Fluid, as they do not seem to have anything in stock for cars before 2009.

Thank you very much!

In case your Jag dealer doesn't have it, it's easily available on ebay

Although the ABS/DSC sensor issue may just be a loose Wheel sensor that needs to be reseated properly in its housing. Always worth a check for the sake of 2 minutes of your time.

Just an update:

- I changed RHR ABS speed sensor (took 10 minutes) and everything came to usual - no more lights, traction control works, cruise control works.

- bushes for front suspension arrived, so local garage changed everything and made alignment - no more rattle after potholes, no more wobble

Unfortunately gasket for oil pan is not yet delivered, so no updates here.

I am very happy with this car! Drives wonderfully!

Meanwhile I couldn't find some info that might be very important:
- do i need to worry about the rear diff? Maybe fluid changes there?
- what engine oil shall I use? Jaguar dealership offered Castrol Edge 5W-30, but I'm not sure about Castrol products at all. They have not worked well in my previous cars
- the speaker covers and light sensor on the dashboard are loose. Is there any way to fix this? Apart from using a glue ))
- automatic headlights and wipers work strange - lights are on unless sun shines right on the windshield, while operation of wipers are not really related to water on the windshield. Is there something wrong with mine, or is this just how things are? )

Thank you guys for your support. I hope I will be helpful for you in future

Assuming the car is petrol (gasoline) fuelled then any oil that says it complies with Ford WSS M2C-913-B (or -C, or -D).

(If it's the Tdvi (diesel) then it's M2C-934-B)

I don't know why those items should be loose unless somebody has been "in there" and broken

some clips. A spot of super glue should fix the speakers.

With respect to the lights you could try and replace the sensor.

Note that the sensor will be very brittle because of where it is situated.

Disconnect the sensor but don't let go of the wire. You could tie a piece of string

to it before disconnecting.

Re the wipers there is a sensor for this near the rear view mirror.

This is attached to the glass with silicone which can become cloudy.

Try replacing the silicone.
