Default New Tires for my 06 XJ8 L - So. Calif

Hi all:

Tried searching for tire recommendations but did not see a match. 255/40 ZR 19 size. Have the Pirelli's and I am getting tired of the noise.

Advise?

New Pirelli P6 all seasons worked out well for me. Worn tires in this size tend to be noisy no matter what the brand. Pirellis are not cheep but Michelins are expensive.

The Michelin's are a lot, but last a long time! I think my have around 30K miles and I haven't noticed too much noise. My next tire would be Hankook. I only drive the car in the summer and about 6-8K a year. I don't need a tire to last 10 years and start to dry rot. So, pick a tire that matches your use and driving style.

I had the Hancook evo V12 and loved the ride they gave but they lasted only 20k which I don't think is great.

I just replaced the tires with Pirelli P6 again, the first ones went 60K and they would have gone another 10K or so but they had started to dry rot. They did get noisy but did everything else well, so I stuck with them. They are priced well also.

I also have the Hancook Evo V12s on my XK8. Quiet, handle well, good traction and certainly the best price for 19 inchers. Too early to tell about treadlife.

Cheers,

Just an additional thought. If noise is a big issue stay away from Summer Hi Perf. tires of any make. The will make more noise at a lower milage than you may be prepared for.
