Exclamation Help.....can't pair iphone with 04 Jag XJ8!

My wife just purchased a 2004 Jag XJ8. Its got all the phone controls on the steering wheel and the dash (where the radio is). I can't seem to get my wife's iPhone 5 to pair with it. Any suggestions?

It may not have the Cellular phone module attached. Mine has all the fittings and buttons and dials but no phone module. So all the call button does on the steering wheel is mute the music volume.
Yours is probably similar.

I can pair mine with my older work flip phone, but not my personal a Android. I figure it may be a Bluetooth coding issue. I had an iPhone 5 but it was before I had the Jaguar.

You can confirm if your car is blue-tooth enabled by checking for the microphone just to the left of the sunglasses holder. If it's there, then you might run into a compatibility issue. The XJ8 only supports up to iPhone 4 as I recall.

you say 2004. I don't believe it will have Bluetooth. Mine is 2005 and doesn't, although it has the Motorola integrated phone. I think Bluetooth arrived with the X358.

If you email owner services at Jaguar with your VIN they will tell you the as-built specification and options fitted.

No, I have an X350 with it and I also have the expanded entertainment system that works with the iPhone 4 and older. It makes me think I should buy an old good condition one.

I think you are right on this. I checked various threads and all said the same thing. Apparently there is a retrofit kit available, but runs around $2,300.

Welcome to the forum cfrazier9, when you get a moment stop by our new members area and introduce yourself ==>> New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

2004-built XJ's (2005MY) did not have bluetooth fitted from the factory.

Unless someone retrofitted the system it will not have bluetooth at all.

It is possible to retrofit the factory system from the 2006MY onwards vehicles, although some custom wiring will be needed. I just recently did this with my own XJR, had been sitting on the parts for a while but it cost me something like $400 to source them from a wrecked vehicle.

A kit like this https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/p...e-x350-146957/ is the older factory system.

There is also a newer module that is much simpler and does not require the wiring modifications to work with an older car.

Have you got a link? I have the older factory fitted phone and Voice.

Default Bluetooth

Am I understanding this correctly. I went to Jag site it says mine is compatiable with iPhone 4. If I upgrade will it work with my iPhone 6+. One last question will it stream music via my iPhone thru Bluetooth to the Apline system in my car.

Thanks to all.

I wouldn't be too worried about compatibility. The kit I just retrofitted into my XJR (same one that was in that for sale link) came out of a 2006 XJ and it works fine with my iPhone 6.

The factory bluetooth setups are only for phone functions, if you want bluetooth audio streaming from your phone or other device then have a look here https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...ptical-134964/

I take back what I said before about compatibility. I don't know what I did wrong in my many previous attempts to sync my Sharp Aquos, but I tried it again today and it worked and automatically syncs quickly when the car is started.
