Exclamation My most regrettable post...ever RESOLVED

Just like the title indicates, this has to be my most regrettable post ever on this forum. After purchasing my most recent jag, a beautiful 2008 XJ8 Vanden Plas, i went through the car to fix any issues. I usually check the fuses to ensure they are all correct and in the process I replaced the fuse for the radio into one of the spare fuse slots. When i got back in the car and noticed the radio not working, i got the great idea to go into the sub menu of the navigation by holding the phone and menu button simultaneously and entering the 1971 code. Upon doing so i went to software update thinking something happened with the software and update from software and since then the nav screen has gone black, the heat\ac is stuck on, and the temp screen flashes between ext 51 and 50. I took the car to the dealer and had them look at it and they stated i needed a whole new unit at a whopping $5500! I bought a used one and attempted to put it in myself. When i plugged the new screen in I still got the same error! To make matters worse, I decided to change the clock bulb to a nice white led as i did on my 04 xj8. After doing that, the windows now wont work if the interior dome light is on or if the dimmer switch is put to full power for the interior lighting! What have i done? Anyone have any ideas? I really appreciate the help!

Yowzers. I'm sorry to hear this. Unfortunately, I don't have any advice, but I do have a question! Can you link me with the white led you used for the clock?

From what source did you try and update ? Did you have a Navigation Disc in the SatNav (in the trunk) at the time ?

Switch your original screen head back in. These sub-assemblies are matched to the rest...if you change one, it has to be "told" by the dealer interface that it is not stolen and it belongs to the new car.

Sorry, can't help with the rest, but it sounds software related, not hardware. I suspect the dealer just didn't want to mess with it, although he could easily have hooked it up and reset the unit. Try a better dealer.

Thanks for the info guys, I did do the update while the nav disk was in the trunk. I do have the original screen back in as i figured it wasnt a hardware issue but a software one. That said, after much research I feel like I am starting to zero in on the dilemma. The ext50 51 on the temp display is actually a code describing a communication issue between the navigation system and the dvd rom in the trunk. Apparently getting the updated map cd should correct the issue. I am downloading it from a link i found on this forum later today to try and do it. Lets see what happens! As for the light in the clock, the led is LED-T5-B85D-1LED-5MM-R-WH, just be careful when doing it as now i still have an issue with the interior lights and the windows. I will start a new thread for that problem.

Maybe after you put everything back as it was and do a hard reset, it may rethink it's self.
