OK, talk me down off the ledge
So as some can see from my sig I have a (what I think) is a beautiful 06 XJR with 63K on her. Nothing, except for needing the wheels refinishing is wrong with her but........... recently (like Saturday) I changed my screensaver on my laptop to a 2008-2009 XJ and now I really want one. Something about the more aggressive front end and big (to some ugly) fender vents that just makes me ....... want it !
I love my car..... though the wife drives it 95% of the time. I have no want or need other than....... they (358) are beautiful in my opinion and the last of the (kinda) real Jaguars. I love the new style XJ's also...... but ..... given the leaping cat on the hood, to me the 350 is the last of the real breed.
So my fellow Jag lovers...... am I crazy for wanting to sell off my XJR and get a newer more aggressive looking XJ ?

I need the same speech! Hahaha
Now what I've been doing, is searching for parts (bumpers & fenders) to keep me from doing the same. I've found the front bumper, but that's about it. The fenders & trunk infill seem impossible to find as I've been looking for about 6mths
So the problem becomes, if I can't find the parts,,,,,,,,,,, (sadly I have manage to keep you ON the ledge) hahaha

I can't help thinking you are better off with what you've got already. The new XJ is so totally different, especially the driving position and what you can see out of the screen. I have test driven the current XJ and have to say it was nice when I got back into my old car. Yours has only done 63k miles. See how you feel when it gets to about 90k !!
Edit
Sorry, thought you were after the current model ! Personally I do not like the restyle of 2008, it did nothing for the car at all IMHO. If the car is right for you, though, go for it as it will be identical to your current car driving-wise.

I LOVE the styling of my 08 XJL. It was between this one and an 07 XJL and the front styling made me go with the 08 even though the 07 have about 15k fewer miles.
The one item that you cannot get on pre-08 items that I now cannot do without (living in South Florida) is ventilated seats!
But if I were in your situation, I would ONLY go with an 08-09 if it was a Super V8 or Super V8 Portfolio.

As Fraser alludes, you might benefit by test driving one. Looks are one thing but driving can change your opinion or reinforce it in a hurry.
Also if your wife drives it more than you, what does she think?
Or is the truth really that you like it on that ledge sir, and are we all secretly in cahoots with you to preemptively manage her expectations and build the required supporting documentation in advance?
