Default Radio question

I just took delivery of my 2004 XJR today and the radio will not tune a station: all I get is static as if there is no antenna hooked up. I was able to get a station to come in while driving around: it's a strong signal and the head unit picked it up on it's own.
The PO does have an XM receiver hooked up in the ashtray compartment. It does work fine.
Any ideas why the regular radio not tuning? The antenna is in the rear glass; maybe it's disconnected behind the head unit? Any tricks to getting the head unit to slide out?
Thanks,
Bill

You need to remove the centre console first then unbolt the radio to remove it

by XM receiver , do you mean bluetooth FM modulator receiver ?
i have one in my jag that i was using , before the new d2b veffbox . it had a switch feature for less interference that disconnects the factory antenna via the switch . i mounted the switch in my glove box to switch the factory antenna off and on . the fm modulator receiver had the relay switch internally . and was a pretty damn good cheep way of aux in.
so if thats what you have maybe look around for a little switch hidden somewhere , to hopefully switch the antenna on.

I had the same situation. For me to get the regular radio to tune in local stations, I first have to shut off the XM radio unit that is installed in my ashtray.

Well, I figured it out. Whoever installed the XM had disconnected the antenna for the car. I took the XM stuff out and restored it to it's original configuration and all is good.
