Default Sad day for my XJ8

Yesterday, in early morning rush hour traffic, my XJ8 was hit from behind by an out of control vehicle doing a 360 in multi-car accident. Now comes the horrific dealings with their insurance company who is attempting to deny liability for their driver. (tears)

Ouch. Hope you get it sorted out soon. Dealing with insurance companies is one of my least favorite things.

Sad indeed.
From the pic, would that be only a paint job on the bumper or more work?

Well, I'm not sure just yet. Estimate I received yesterday was around 2k, without bumper cover replacement. They didn't even include the insert, which should be replaced any time an impact to it has been made. Rear backup sensor operation has failed, and that wasn't included either. I'll know more next week I guess.

That really stinks, David! I hope no one was hurt.

Unless the multi-car accident was caused by something like a deer or debris on the road, at least one driver is probably at fault, so ultimately the insurance company lawyers may have to sort out which company pays for all the damage.

Please keep us informed.

Cheers,

Don

Thanks Don. No, no one was injured thank God. Just lots of vehicle carnage.

Well BOX, while you are not lucky you are at least fortunate that more damage was not done. Given the current market value of XJ8s and associated repair costs, it dos not take much to get totaled out by the Ins. cartel.

Edmunds still hits retail value of mine at $7,242.00, still worth well more than I paid for it, but a little less than what I've invested after 2 years of ownership on this specific vehicle. It's been worth it though. After owning various XJ's over the years, I still smile every time I get to drive it. But I get your drift.

I finally received my vehicle back. It took 5 weeks @ GW & Son to do a simple rear bumper cover replace. Left with high orange peel finish, but fair color match. Another week at Bob Moore Jaguar in OKC, for a failed rear parking aid sounder, which they were unable to diagnose, or repair. ($12 Ford part fixed it) Both of these facilities will never touch my vehicle again. The collateral damage, general condition of the vehicle upon return wasn't pleasant to say the least.

Default Where'd this happen?

Vaguely familiar with OKC, where did the incident happen? Did your new contact (euphemism intended) cross the median at you? Sounds scary.

I44 westbound @ US66. Same direction of travel. This is the most dangerous section of road in the State.
