Default T8-DLG vs H8-AGM battery

04 X350. My dead battery is an H8-AGM, all my local Autozone has for my vehicle is the T8-DLG.

Yes? No? Better? Worse?

I replaced my battery in the XK with the Duralast Gold and I keep it on a maintainer. I did this because I was in a spot and neither the local Fleet Farm or Sears were open.

Nothing wrong with the standard lead acid battery which is what DLG is and is OEM style.

EDIT: SEE SERGE"S COMMENTS BELOW: I retract my earlier statement regarding AGM as the X350 alternator output is as high as 15.1 volts which would strain an AGM. This is different than my XK. My apologies. Follow Serge's suggestion or go with the DLG.

Price points matter to some as well but I went for the highest CCA and the longest warranty which is 72 months if memory serves.

BTW a T8 is the wrong battery for your car. An 04 XJ8 uses an H8. Maybe just a typo in your title?

AGM is not the ideal battery for an X350.
A "calcium" battery, such as the OEM X350 battery (Varta, in the EU) is better.
I understand that Varta is not easily sourceable in the US but there are alternatives such as Exide.
This is because a slightly higher voltage than what is usually delivered by a standard lead (or AGM) battery is required in the X350 electrical modules.

Nope, Autozone lists the wrong battery and I had no idea! Scary! Weird, if you search 04 VDP you get the T8 but if you search 04 XJ8 you do get the H8.

I think you're thinking of the Exide L5/49X? It's the same 12 volt 900 CCA as the H8-AGM Duralast Platinum and H8-DLG Duralast Gold. I do see that CA is 1080 as opposed to the other two's 1000, is that the spec we're interested in?

Also: the Exide site is the second source I've seen list different batteries for the 04 Vanden Plas, just to double check that is a mistake isn't it? I thought except for some interior trim I had the same vehicle as the 04 XJ8.

Thanks!

If you do a search on calcium + battery + exide in this forum (on top right), you find the related articles.
Here is one that describes the issue:
