Body Processor Module Interchangeability?

Body Processor Module Interchangeability?
I have a 1996 XJ6 which exhibits all of the classic symptoms of a bad Body Processing Module (won't crank with key, lights don't work, etc.). There's a used one for sale on e-bay out of a 1997. It looks the same but the part number is slightly different. Mine is LNA2500AA/007; theirs is LNA2500BB/007.
I've read that you want the suffix to be the same when doing s swap - which, in this case, it is - but what's the AA versus BB telling us? Is it simply a later revision of the same part, or is it not usable at all in my application?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
BTW - before learning about BPMs I thought I had a bad starter. Removed the entire engine compartment wiring harness and the intake manifold to get at the starter (as advised by a Jag dealer) only to find that that wasn't the problem after all.

For anyone following along here, my new (used) Body Processing Module came this week. I popped it in and, voila!, all of my problems were gone. I drove the car yesterday for the first time since before Christmas. (I always put it up for a while in the Winter anyway, but I didn't expect it to be this long.)
So I'm happy. I'm happy that the $250 I spent for the used module wasn't wasted and that that actually solved my problems. And I'm happy that I chose to try the used module instead of spending $700 to have my old module remanufactured. But mostly I'm happy that none of the money ended up in the pocket of my Jag dealer, who wasn't particularly useful in helping to diagnose the problem in the first place.
BTW - the original basis for this thread, the interchangeability of modules, turned out to be a moot point, as the module I actually received matched my old one exactly anyway. It wasn't the one pictured in the e-bay listing, with the different number, after all. But many thanks anyway, xjrguy, because without your advice I probably wouldn't have taked a chance on it.
My next mission will be to track down a "noise" that's coming from something in the suspension. Based on what I've read in other threads in this forum I'm thinking that it's probably worn bushings. So I may just start going through the car replacing things like tie rod ends, ball joints and bushings everywhere. It's probably time. I do my own work, and the parts aren't that expensive.

Picking up this old thread, as my wipers don't slow down when at a red light. There's a vehicle sensor speed input on pin FC2-4 on the body processor module, so I figured a replacement module at £40 was the cheapest and easiest way to try a fix.
The /00x info has me intrigued, though. Any way to find out the number vs market relationship?

To my knowledge, there is no relationship of the suffix to the market specifically. For instance, if there was no difference in the features controlled by a given module here in the States, and a car in Denmark, they would have the same /0xx suffix. It's more a suffix determined by the number of different feature sets needed for the model year.
If that makes any sense!..........

Thanks for your reply.
I looked up the PBU on eBay and found, that all the ones in the US are 007, the UK 001 and Germany 001 and 003 (one of each). So I thought it was relating to the market where it was sold, as the manual often has different descriptions regarding security, driving lights aso. But the first owner bought the car in Germany, so I guess I am out of my local nordic market anyway
Today I have received an AA /001 unit from the UK. Hopefully it will cause no issues when I plug it in. Have no idea if the current is 001 too, as my health doesn't give me much room to climb around and check these things, just because I feel like it...
Will I be deleting any stored data, when I unplug the power from my current BPU?

BPM part number LNA2500AA/001 supersedes to LNA2500BB/001. That is in fact for UK, Cyprus, Malta and Gibraltar.
For you in Denmark, it would have been AA/005 and superseded to BB/005.
Exactly what the differences are, I can't say. Most likely it has something to do with lighting requirement differences between the two markets. You won't be deleting anything, per se, but if there are any dealer programmable settings that have been changed from normal defaults, you could gain or lose something there; they are non-volatile, so whatever setting was programmed in the car it came from, is now your setting.

Not exactly the answer I was hoping for, but thanks a lot for clarifying. Now I can test the replacement BPU and see, if the wiper regains proper functionality. If not, at least I know I can reinstall the old unit without losing any settings.
Thanks for your help. You've been great!

Like, right here!
I should add that this is the location, but your module will look a bit different than this one; this is a pic of a 1998 sedan part.

Yes, forward of the glove box, off center to the left side. On the engine side, I believe there is a spring loaded pin [sort of like a small knob] to pull out. That will release it so it can slide down and out of its mounting.
Good luck!

Make me a fair offer and I'll accept it.
Thanks!
