Default Strange noise in the car

I was driving today on a really bumpy road and I heard a noise each time I hit a rough spot. It sounded a bit like there was something loose in the trunk so when I got home I checked the battery which was tight, I thought it might be the cover over the spear wheel or the spare but they seemed tight. It may be in the roof near the rear of the car. So, is there anything in the roof what might rattle??

It doesn't sound like it's under the car

Thanks

Suspension noises on any car can be tough to find when the suspension is static, under load, or sometimes when in full droop on a lift. The direct answer to the question is it will be hard to see what you need to see tire on or off because this could end up being a bushing.

I would suggest getting the car on a ramp lift for the initial exam. I wish I could encourage you to have someone ride in the trunk while you drive, but I can't.

Short of a desperate adventure like that, you might have someone occupy the rear seat while the car is driven. Noises transfer in the monocoque to the point that it's tough to pin point.

All that having been said, if the dampers aren't at fault, look at the bushings.

Talking

Just say I could talk someone to take a ride in the trunk what are they lissening for? Like I said it sounds to me that there was something rattling in the roof rather than the rear suspension but thought I'd ask what you guys had to say.

I will ask one of my old retired friends to take a rid in the trunk. I'm sure we can get one of them to get in but at our age getting them out will be a problem. I'll need a few others to come for a ride so they can help.. lol

Thanks everyone for your input. Had the rear end sitting on the jack stands today can see NO play or noise coming from the shocks, however the rubber bushing on the Stabilizer bar links look bad, infact one side has one missing and the other seem very worm.

I'm in Canada so any ideas where to get either new bushings or new Stabilizer Bar Links? I have looked at Rock Auto who have them if needed..

Thanks again.

You have to remove shock strut with the spring all assembly.
I will make new thread with pictures, how to change rear struts in couple hours
