mirror plug confusion
1997 XJ6 (X300) located in US
I recently removed my malfunctioning auto dim rear view mirror and sent it to Sybesma's Electronics for repair. Turn around was great but now I have an unexpected issue.
I cannot find the female connection for the mirror male plug. The only female connector open in the overhead is a large black unit with 8 pins. 5 pins in a row on one side and 3 pins in the next row. There is another row that has no pins. My mirror has a yellow 4 pin connector with 3 wires ( no temp or compass). The yellow male connector is much smaller than the black female connector. When I disassembled the mirror it all looked fairly basic so I did not take a pic of the assembly.
Is it possible there was an adaptor that is now missing? I think the mirror returned is the one I sent in.
The black female socket is located in the middle of the overhead just to the front of the sunroof actuator.
I have searched diligently for another female socket but I do not see one.
Any help is appreciated. At least I now have a mirror I can see out of but I would really like to dim it at night.

Hello rwoodlin,
Can you remember if your mirror had a slide for the electrochromatic sensor or a button?
1995 was the last year they made the slide and 1996-2003 has the button with a white connector.
If you sent in the one with button they sent you the wrong one back it should have 3 wires White/Grey/and Black and plug into white connector.
two black connectors, one is for sunroof and the other I have not seen used.
Please advise if you need further assistance.
